NSPIRG strives to be accountable to its membership and to its partners. Please read through our policies, constitution and budget to see how our organization is governed and how our funds are allocated. Of course, you are always welcome in our office (room B24 of the Dalhousie SUB) to ask further questions. Our hours during the fall term are 11:00am – 3:00pm, Monday – Friday.
During the winter term, every academic year, NSPIRG holds an Annual General meeting where members can vote on motions to amend by-laws and offer input into the guidance of the organization. General meetings are advertised in advance through posters and our mailing list (request to join by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org).
If you have concerns about any of our activities, please contact us and let us know. We take all concerns seriously and are happy to receive feedback from our members and partners.
Consistent with our commitment to accountability, transparency and democracy, NSPIRG offers two opportunities each academic year when members (fee-paying students of Dalhousie Univeristy and the university of King’s College) may ‘opt-out’ of the organization and have their levy refunded. when a member ‘opts-out’, they forefeit their rights and privileges as a member of the organization.
If you are a levy-paying Dalhousie or Kings student with concerns about NSPIRG, we encourage you to come to our office to talk to us. If you wish to have your levy money refunded, we offer two ‘opt-out’ levy refund periods – one at the beginning of each school term. These periods are widely publicized on campus.
The dates of our Winter 2016 opt out period are Monday, Feb 13th – Friday, Feb17th. Students can be refunded from the NSPIRG office Monday – Friday, 11am-2pm. We will also be tabling at various locations across campus. Stay tuned for location updates.
